Learning points from devotion on 10th November:
Today bible verses reading is on 1st Corinthians 9:24-27.
Todays topic is also on self-control. Where it talks about Christians and non-christians. As all of us are pictured as “running in a race”, we all run for a “reward”, a purpose in life.
But for us Christians, we are thankful that we run for God, we run for a imperishable reward. Which is the eternity. For those pre-believer, they run for a reward which is temporary.
For everyone who runs, they exercise self-control in what they do. And we discipline our body to be our slave, so that when we preached to others, we will not be disqualified. In this way, we walk the talk. We also glorify God this way! By presenting our body a living and holy sacrifice.
I feel that this is true as I feel in my life, there are times I may not exercise self-control. And this makes him feel contradicted at times when I try to tell others to do likewise. But that also encourages me to walk my talk =)
I thank God for instilling this great sense of integrity in me, also especially when I want to be a genuine leader , to walk my talk, to be of great influence to others, especially the lost.
Learning points from devotion on 11th November:
Today bible reading is on proverbs 25:26-28.
What it speaks to me most were verse 28. Where Like a (AG)city that is broken into and without walls
Is a man (AH)who has no control over his spirit.
This tells of how important it is to build a firm wall. A firm foundation. So that we have total control over our spirit with the help of the Holy spirit.
This wall we have self control ourselves, and this way we can resist temptation better, so as to remain pure and clean in God’s sight.
To me I think what is more important is at times where people don’t see what you do. These are the areas of life where people have to take note of. And in these areas, the “wall” of everyone really come to a good use, when people are put through trials as the devil works.
